Hairst, hervest

- harvest, autumn. A speaker from Crieff in 1955 made a clear distinction in the use of hairst and hervest. This usage may not still be current: Here in Crieff “hairst” is used for the grain harvest. “Hervest” is used for fruit harvest. People say “you have a grand apple hervest this year” (they would never say “apple hairst”).
