Powny
- pony. The small hardy Scottish breeds were invaluable to crofters for carrying loads and even for ploughing, driving and riding. Larger Highland ponies are a real all-purpose breed used for everything from bringing deer carcases off the hills to taking holidaymakers trekking to out-of-the-way places. They are a very comfortable ride and usually very well behaved.
