Osprey
osprey Pandion haliaetus. The return of the osprey to Scottish lochs is a conservation success story. In spite of setbacks caused by theft of osprey eggs, numbers are increasing and these magnificent birds can be seen plunging into the water and emerging with a fish in their talons at Loch Garten, the Loch of the Lowes and a gradually increasing number of sites throughout Scotland.
