Earwig
there are probably more names for earwigs in Scotland than for any other creature. They include clipshears, collieglean, callanglean, forkietailie, hornie gollach, gollacher, geelog, gullack, gullachan, gavelack, scotchiebell, scodgible, switchpool and twitchbell. Many of these are very localised.
The horny golloch is an awesome craitur,
Souple and scaly.
He has twa horns and a hantle o feet
And a forkie tailie.
