Sonsie

- lucky, friendly, good, honest, comely, sturdy. This adjective is most famously applied to the Haggis in the Address to the Haggis by Robert Burns: Fair fa [May good things happen to] yer honest, sonsie face, great chieftain o the pudden [sausage] race. Yet it is most often applied to young women of an attractive, healthy appearance. Hungert women are rarely sonsie.
