- a miser. An obsolete word but one used to great effect by William Dunbar: Sum gevis to litill full wretchitly, That . . . for a huidpyk haldin is he. It makes a splendid insult in: Hudpykis, hurdaris [hoarders, especially of stolen goods], and gadderaris [gatherers];
