The Eyemouth Disaster
In a severe storm on 14th October 1881, 189 fishermen died, most of them from the village of Eyemouth in south east Scotland. This was the worst fishing disaster Scotland has known. Within sight of the shore, the boats came to grief on the Hurkar Rocks.
