- melted snow in rivers; slush. Bree is liquid. It is often used of the liquid in which something has been steeped or cooked, containing the essence of that substance. If snaw-bree can be said to contain the essence of snow, it is in the temperature; nothing is colder on the feet than standing in snaw-bree.
