Ants, according to the Buchan Observer of 22nd August 1950, are worth watching: An emerteen’s byke [an ants’ nest]. . .is aften in a great commotion; but the wee beasties ken to keep a soun’ reef abeen their heids [a sound roof above their heads] if there’s ony signs o’ rain.
